Visit from Culinary Institute of America
Inspires Future Chefs

Future Chefs

(L-R): Shannon Lawniczak (Lockport), Samantha Westlund (Lyndonville), Jasmine House (Lockport), Nick Altero (CIA Recruiter), Alyssa McManus (Lockport) and Daniel Schildt (Lyndonville).

Nick Altero, a recruiter from the Culinary Institute of America (CIA), recently spent some time with the Culinary Arts students at the Orleans Career and Technical Education Center.  Teacher James Atzrott was pleased to welcome the guest who talked to his students about what the college could offer them in advancing their skills and professional opportunities. He also did some cooking demonstrations and answered questions about the college and the degrees students could receive.  “I really enjoy talking to young culinary students,” said Mr. Altero.  “A recruiter came to my school and that is what inspired me to go to the CIA.  It was a great decision for me and that is why I like talking to students who are on the verge of making those decisions for their future.”
